Winchester Asian Film Festival 2021 (WAFF2021) is an online film festival focusing on East Asian societies. The festival will start on July 24th with an opening ceremony and end on July 28th, it will last for five days (due to the pandemic, all activities will be hosted online). Five elaborating designed units, containing excellent films and documentaries, will be screened in a daily broadcast room to illustrate the vicissitudes of societies and social hierarchy contradictions developing in East Asia over past decades.
The goal of WAFF 2021 is to evoke public attention and thinking on the developments of class contradictions in the changes of East Asia. Furthermore, we hope the audience will notice the life of the ‘not have’ group who are marginalized in the society. Despite they are not considered as elite who possess wealth and authority, their voice likewise ‘matters’.
